Removing the Rear Seat for Access to the Fuel Pump

Model: BMW X5 E70 - Years 2007-2013

If the engine is not receiving adequate fuel, a problem may lie with the fuel pump. To access it, you need to remove the four plastic covers of the seat starting from the bottom. Remove the two seat cushions, being careful of the seatbelt hooks, and move them away from the vehicle. Lift the soundproofing cover and use a ratchet wrench to remove the four nuts from the fuel pump housing cover. Gently lift the cover, being careful of the power cables. To extract the pump, slide off the fuel line, disconnect the connector, and unscrew the screws on the edge of the pump.
