BMW Serie 3 - Video tutorial

Model: BMW Serie 3 E46 - Years 1998-2006
Part: Transmission
Operation: Replacing the center bearing, also known as the Flex Disc

If the center support bearing of our car's crankshaft is worn, also known as the Flex Disc, it can cause transmission problems or noises when accelerating. The flexible disc connects the driveshaft to the transmission, while the center support bearing keeps the driveshaft aligned in line and prevents any excessive play in the driveshaft when it turns. It is not a very difficult job to do and it is better to do it without removing the drain. The machine must be raised and the transmission cover removed. Then also the two rear wheels. The flex disk is attached to the rear of the transmission. It is necessary to separate the drive shaft and then remove the circlip that holds the bearing. Then just tighten the nuts and reassemble everything again.
