The maintenance schedule for the BMW 3 Series includes periodic replacement of the air filter. To do this, open the hood of the engine compartment.

Using a 6mm socket wrench, loosen the clamp on the air filter intake hose, detach the box from the vibration dampers, and remove the intake hose. Using a screwdriver, release the four retaining clips, and remove the box containing the old filter element from the bottom.

Replace it with a new filter, ensuring correct installation. Insert the filter box back into its housing and secure it with the clips.

Lubricate the vibration dampers with soap and reassemble everything in its place, paying attention to the filter holder hooks. Reattach the intake hose and tighten its clamp.
