How to Change the Oil and Oil Filter on the Chevrolet Silverado

To change the oil and oil filter on your Chevrolet Silverado, start by opening the oil fill cap. Then, go under the vehicle and use a Torx wrench or socket to unscrew the oil drain plug and let the oil drain into a container. Once the oil has drained, reinstall the drain plug, making sure to clean its seating first. Using the appropriate wrench, unscrew the oil filter and let the oil drain into the same container. After the oil has drained from the filter, add new oil to the new filter and spread it on the gasket, then reinstall it using the appropriate wrench, ensuring to clean the seating beforehand. After securing the new oil filter, return to the vehicle, insert a funnel into the oil fill hole, and pour in the specified quarts from the manufacturer. When you are close to the specified quarts, check the oil level using the dipstick (check the level a second time after pulling out the dipstick). If the level is at the "max" mark, it is fine; otherwise, add more oil.
