How to Change the Battery in a Chevrolet Silverado

Model: Chevrolet Silverado MK 3 - Years 2014-2018

Pull the hood release to open the hood. The battery is located in the back left corner of the engine compartment, partially covered by the engine cover support. Remove the four bolts holding the engine cover support to the pickup body using a 13 mm wrench and socket. Take out the support and set it aside. Remove the battery hold-down, which is a small block secured on the right side of the battery compartment. Use a socket extension of at least 6 in to reach the 13 mm bolt and loosen it. Remove the black negative cable first (and reinstall it last) to prevent shorting the battery to ground. Remove the battery and replace it with the new one.
