Air Conditioning Gas Recharge

If activating the air conditioning does not produce sufficiently cold air from the vents, it may be necessary to recharge the refrigerant gas in the air conditioning system. Generally, it is advisable to consult a professional who has the appropriate equipment to recover the residual gas, create a vacuum in the system to eliminate air from the circuit, recharge the correct amount of gas, and possibly replace the compressor oil as well. In any case, there are disposable canisters available commercially that allow for DIY gas recharging: connect the canister to the appropriate valve on the air conditioning line and open the canister valve.
