How to change the air filter of the Citroen Berlingo

To replace the engine air filter on the Citroen Berlingo, it is important to start with the engine off and, preferably, with the engine compartment not hot, so you can work more safely and without risking deforming plastics or seals. Before starting, make sure you have the correct engine air filter for your version: there are several variants for the Berlingo based on the year, engine type, and filter housing, so the safest way is to check via the registration plate/VIN or compare the shape and measurements of the old element. Open the hood and locate the filter box (airbox), which is the plastic container connected to the intake tube. The cover may be secured with metal clips or screws (on some versions also with Torx-type screws): release or unscrew the fastenings just enough to lift the cover and create space to remove the filter element. During this phase, avoid pulling on wiring or hoses and do not force the intake duct. Carefully remove the used filter, being careful not to let dirt fall into the airbox. If you find leaves or dust, clean the inside with a dry cloth (without pushing debris toward the duct). Insert the new filter, ensuring it is oriented correctly and seated properly: it must rest well on the entire perimeter, without folds or gaps, because even a small crack can allow unfiltered air to pass through. Close the cover, ensuring it is correctly seated and that all clips/screws are tightened evenly. Once the job is finished, visually check the intake tube and the fastenings: if the cover does not close perfectly, reopen it and reposition the filter until the closure is clean and regular. If you notice unusual intake noises or irregularities after the intervention, recheck the alignment of the cover and the correct seating of the filter.
