Citroen C5 - Video tutorial

Model: Citroen C5 DC, MK 1 - Years 2000-2008
Part: Engine
Operation: Head gasket replacement

When carrying out a repair that requires the disassembly of the cylinder head, it is good practice to use a new set of gaskets and pins in the assembly phase: in fact, the so-called emery series kit is available on the market. Then start by checking the flatness of the cylinder head surface using a ground bar and a thickness gauge for valves; install the suction manifold by applying the new gasket and tightening the nuts with the torque wrench; repeat the same operation installing the exhaust manifold; apply the new set of stud pins to install the turbine by lubricating the variable geometry with clean oil; also check the flatness of the surface of the cylinder base, re-thread the threads of the cylinder head fixing holes with the appropriate male, check the piston head protrusion with respect to the cylinders in order to choose the right thickness of the new cylinder head gasket and apply it by fixing it with a new set of pins, locking them in a crisscross pattern using both the torque wrench and the graduated wrench. Then insert the pins of the valve control frame, the new camshaft and the relative fixing plate to which to apply the sealant putty; insert the camshaft oil seal, the timing pulley aligning the timing references and also installing the toothed belt. Complete by fitting the tappet cover, the injectors and the thermostatic valve.

Handbrake adjustment on Ford Ecosport

First remove the plastic profile at the base of the gear lever. To do this, slightly widen the side edges and carefully lift it to release it. There is no need to remove it completely, just move it forward to avoid bother. Now remove the plastic center console around the handbrake by first working from the rear to release it and lifting it until the brake lever passes. Also in this case it is not necessary to remove it completely but, paying attention to the connected cables, it can be stowed in front of the passenger seat. At this point we notice that at the base of the handbrake lever, on the front, we find a nut. By acting on it, with a 10 wrench, we can adjust the brake force, increasing it by turning the nut clockwise, or decreasing it by turning it counterclockwise. Once adjusted, the center console can be repositioned first, pressing lightly to engage it, and then the profile of the gearbox base.
