Replacing the Cylinder Head Gasket

When performing a repair that requires the removal of the cylinder head, it is good practice to use a new set of gaskets and bolts during reassembly: a so-called 'grinding series kit' is available on the market. Start by checking the flatness of the cylinder head surface using a straight edge and a feeler gauge; install the intake manifold with a new gasket, tightening the nuts with a torque wrench; repeat the same operation for the exhaust manifold; apply a new set of bolts for the turbo, lubricating the variable geometry with clean oil; also check the flatness of the cylinder block surface, re-tap the threads of the cylinder head fixing holes with the appropriate tap, and verify the piston head's protrusion relative to the cylinders to choose the correct thickness for the new head gasket, securing it with a new set of bolts, tightening them in a cross pattern using both a torque wrench and a graduated wrench. Then insert the valve control rocker pins, the new camshaft, and the corresponding mounting plate, applying gasket sealant; insert the camshaft oil seal, the timing belt pulley aligning the timing marks, and install the timing belt as well. Complete the assembly by fitting the rocker cover, injectors, and thermostat.
