How to Replace the Timing Belt on a Citroen C5 1.6 85kW

To replace the timing belt and water pump on the Citroen C5 1.6 85kW, use the Continental timing kit with water pump, code CT1138 WP1, and tool box V03. Lock the crankshaft by inserting a tool into the pulley and another at the rear in the flywheel. Lock the camshaft by inserting two tools into the designated holes in the pulleys (timing set correctly). Loosen the tensioner roller, remove the belt, and replace the components with those in the kit. When replacing the water pump, thoroughly clean and flush the cooling circuit. Fill the circuit with coolant and distilled water, and when refitting the water pump, use only the gasket provided in the kit without any adhesive paste. When refitting the tensioner roller, ensure the slot fits into the projection and tighten the bolt. Fit the new belt starting from the crankshaft, passing over the idler pulley, the camshafts, then the water pump, and finally the tensioner roller (anti-clockwise). Tension the belt by adjusting the eccentric of the roller (Allen key) until the position indicator is in the position shown in the video (almost horizontal), then loosen it and move it to the position with the indicator on the groove and tighten the roller bolt. Finally, remove the locking tools and manually rotate the engine 10 times, return the engine to the TDC (top dead centre) position of the first cylinder, and check the belt tension on the roller.
