How to Start a Dacia Duster Without AdBlue in an Emergency

The procedure described in the video is an extreme emergency measure that may cause damage to the vehicle. However, if you find yourself on the road with family and don’t know how to reach the nearest fuel station, you must find a way to manage (but we should have thought of this earlier!). When the AdBlue runs out, our Dacia Duster enters protection mode, and if we are driving, the engine power is drastically limited until the car shuts down and cannot be restarted. The YouTuber disables the start & stop system and then starts the car by pushing it (in second gear, with the key in the ON position, releasing the clutch sharply while the car is moving). This tricks the ECU and starts the engine mechanically, bypassing the electronic lock. The risk is that the engine, running without AdBlue, will cause a spike in NOx emissions, damaging the catalytic converter and the particulate filter; furthermore, even if the car starts, it is highly likely that the ECU will soon limit the revs and power again.
