Replacing the Timing Belt on a Dacia Duster 1.5 DCi

In this video, you will see a Dacia Duster, but we will discuss the Renault 1.5 DCi engine in general, so this also applies to Megane users. Disconnect the battery and open the coolant reservoir cap, which will need to be drained. Remove the front right wheel and the wheel arch liners, then take off the engine mount, leaving all the bolts in place to avoid losing them. Next, unscrew the fuel pipe and remove the timing belt cover. The YouTuber shows us on a screen where to insert the locking pins for the timing, to properly align the crankshaft. Then, go underneath to remove the belt by loosening the pulley. Replace the water pump and remove the small metal gasket found behind it. To refit the belt, note that there are white lines that must align with the timing marks that were locked previously. Once everything is aligned, tighten the tensioner roller. Remove all the locking pins, refill the coolant, and reattach the engine mount. Reconnect the battery and you're done.
