When the red oil warning light comes on in a Fiat 500, it means you need to change the engine oil and oil filter; this can be done easily and quickly. The first step is to open the bonnet and unscrew the oil filler cap. The second step is to lift the vehicle with a jack and open the oil sump.

Once the oil has finished draining, close the sump. The third step is to remove the oil filter located near the reservoir and engine; use a 14 mm spanner to unscrew it. Once removed, insert the new filter and close the cap. Complete the change by topping up the oil in the reservoir.

If necessary, also replace the air filter located on the engine by removing the cover and inserting the new one.
