How to change the key battery in a Fiat

To replace the battery and shell of the FIAT flip key, work on a clean surface and prepare a small screwdriver or a thin tool to pry. Before you start, make sure you have a compatible shell for your key and a button battery of the same type as the one installed (the code is printed on the battery). Start by separating the two halves of the shell by prying at the junction point, using progressive movements to avoid breaking the tabs. Once the key is open, carefully remove the internal module and access the battery: remove it without deforming the contacts and insert the new battery in the same direction, ensuring it is securely held in place. If you are also changing the casing, transfer the electronic board and, above all, the flip blade group to the new shell. In this key, the blade mechanism is preloaded with a spring: during disassembly, hold the parts steady to prevent the spring from popping out of place. Reposition the blade and spring in the new shell, ensuring they fit properly, then close the mechanism and make sure the blade rotates and locks correctly. At this point, insert the electronic board into the shell, check that the buttons and rubber pads are aligned, and close the two halves by pressing along the entire edge until the catches snap back into place. Complete the operation by reattaching any side pin/stop that secures the key body and check that the flip blade pops open and retracts smoothly. Finally, test the remote buttons: if it does not respond, double-check the battery orientation, ensure the contacts are properly seated, and confirm that the shell is fully closed.
