Timing Belt Replacement

Model: Fiat Punto MK 2, 188 - Years 1999-2011
Part: Timing belt

Replacing the timing belt is a task that is as complex as it is necessary.

The timing belt is one of the most important components of the engine and is responsible for synchronising the movement of the crankshaft with that of the camshaft, which in turn regulates the opening and closing of the valves.

Failure to replace the belt at scheduled intervals can lead to breakage, with serious consequences for the engine; for example, failure to open the valves can cause the piston to collide with them, breaking them or breaking itself.

Since replacing the timing belt is a rather complex operation that requires appropriate tools to be done correctly, it is advisable to have it done only at a garage.

However, if you feel like a skilled mechanic, this video shows the various stages of the operation performed on a Fiat Punto with a mk2 8V engine.

How to Remove an EGR Valve from a Land Rover Freelander

This video shows how to remove an EGR valve from a Land Rover Freelander. Lift the bonnet and secure it, then use a screwdriver to unscrew the locking pins of the ventilation pipe, removing the piece from the engine bay. Start unscrewing the fixing pins of the EGR valve as shown in the video. Once the piece is removed from its seat, unscrew the screws present on it with a screwdriver. Disconnect the power connectors from the valve, and remove it from the engine bay. Once the piece is removed, install the new EGR valve in the engine bay with the associated parts. Finally, reassemble the ventilation pipe in the engine bay after cleaning it of any dirt and deposits.
