Decommissioning a Fiat Punto Mk1 Before Scrapping

When an old car is to be scrapped, it must first be decommissioned, meaning all elements that could pose an environmental risk if released must be removed, as well as those that can be immediately recycled. Start by draining fluids such as engine oil, power steering fluid, coolant, and fuel. Next, remove the wheels, separating the tyres from the rims, detach the catalytic converter from the exhaust pipe, remove the battery, and finally, take out the complete engine with the gearbox. Before sending the chassis to the compactor, remove the windscreen by cutting the sealant and the rear heated window.
