How to Test the Crankshaft Position Sensor Functionality

Model: Fiat Doblo 223, MK 1, Doblo 1 - Years 2000-2009
Part: Crankshaft position sensor

To check the efficiency of the sensor that detects engine RPM, it is essential to use a good digital multimeter. You can measure with a standard analogue multimeter, but the reading will be less accurate. First, connect the negative probe of the multimeter to the vehicle's body, preferably using the negative terminal of the battery. Set the multimeter to a scale above 20 millivolts (mV). Start the engine and insert the positive probe of the multimeter into the rear side of the connector in contact with the yellow side wire. The multimeter should indicate 2.2 millivolts. Next, move the probe to the central contact of the connector, and the reading should be around 23 millivolts. This measurement varies with engine RPM. Set the multimeter to a scale above 5V and place the probe in the last remaining contact of the connector, and the reading should be 5V.

How to Remove the Grille on a Ford Ranger

In this video, learn how to remove the grille located on the front bumper of a Ford Ranger. Prepare to take off the plastic grille: use a socket spanner to unscrew the fasteners securing the grille (located on the inside of the bumper). With a plastic lever, pry between the grille and the bumper until it disengages from its housing. Once the grille is free, remove it from the bumper and fit a new one. Refit the grille onto the car's bumper by pressing it into place and screw the fasteners back in. Check that all parts are correctly mounted.
