How to Replace the Timing Belt on a Fiat Doblò

Remove the timing belt cover and the crankshaft pulley; you need to position the engine at the first cylinder. Secure it with a suitable marker. Next, the fuel pump must be secured with two screws: there are holes in the pump specifically for this purpose. On the toothed wheel, there is a clearer mark, and on the belt, there is a triangle. These two markings must be aligned. Loosen the nut on the tensioner pulley to slacken the belt, which can now be removed. When refitting the tensioner pulley, pay particular attention: it has a slot that must align with a pin on the engine. To tension the timing belt, follow a precise path: start from the crankshaft, then the guide pulley, followed by the camshaft, then the fuel pump, and finally the water pump. Push back the lower lever of the tensioner pulley until the indicator is approximately at 2 o'clock. Rotate the engine in the direction of rotation at least twice to check the tension of the belt: there are two indicators that must align, as shown in the video. Now remove the locking tools and manually rotate the engine another two times, returning it to the TDC position.
