The automated or semi-automatic gearbox of the Fiat 500 has three main issues related to oil leaks that can cause it to go into recovery mode on its own. Oil leaks are almost always caused by poor maintenance, which can block the gearbox actuator. When you perform annual maintenance on the car, advise your mechanic to check the condition of the gearbox oil. However, the biggest fault is the loss of synchronisation, which occurs when the selector encounters a snag or fails to engage the clutch properly.

In these cases, it is necessary to replace the actuator if the problem occurs too frequently. In some situations, the issue may be with the clutch, in which case simply replacing the clutch will suffice.
