Here’s how to replace the drum brakes on the rear of the Ford Fiesta MK6: ensure the handbrake is engaged, open the bonnet, and remove the brake fluid cap, then lift the rear of the car and secure it on axle stands. Remove the drum screws and release the handbrake. Now, dismantle the brake shoes by removing clips, springs, and disconnecting the handbrake cable. Clean the backing plate thoroughly with brake cleaner. To fit the new brake shoes, grease the contact points, reassemble in the correct order (starting with the rear shoe), paying attention to the automatic adjuster. After assembly, it is essential to bleed the braking system to remove any air. Pump the brake pedal several times to automatically reposition the shoes.
