How to replace the diesel filter on a Ford Focus? In this video, see the replacement process. Open the car door and pull up the engine compartment release lever located at the bottom left of the dashboard, lift the front bonnet and secure it. Remove the soundproofing panel of the engine (if necessary), then, using a socket wrench, unscrew the securing bolts located above the filter container (disconnect the wires and various hoses from the filter) where the filter is located. Extract the diesel filter and replace it with a new one. Finally, reassemble the diesel filter container (connect the hoses and wires) and tighten the screws.
