Replacing the oil and worn filter on a Ford Focus? Here's how to replace everything. Open the car door and pull up the engine compartment release lever located at the bottom left of the dashboard, then lift the front bonnet and unscrew the oil cap. Lift the car on a jack and unscrew the bolt of the oil sump (if you want to replace the oil); let the fluid drain into a container. Remove the plastic panel, and using a strap wrench, unscrew the oil filter. Extract the worn oil filter and position a new one. Refill with new fluid and close the bonnet of the Focus.
