When there is a malfunction with the automatic transmission on a Ford vehicle, you can follow this simple procedure to reset it, which may resolve the issue. First, access the driver's seat and turn on the ignition (do not start the engine), press the brake pedal and hold it down throughout the procedure.

Then, grip the automatic gear lever and slowly shift through the gears starting from 'P' to 'S', and then select the gears up to 'N'. At that point, you will hear a sound indicating that the transmission is ready.
