The spark plug leads are a basic component of the engine often underestimated, but they play a critical role in the proper functioning of the engine. Due to high operating temperatures and vibrations, they can deteriorate and become less efficient in conducting electricity from the coil to the spark plugs. This malfunction could lead to power loss in the engine and static discharges noticeable when listening to the radio in the car. When replacing the leads, it may also be appropriate to replace the spark plugs: it is important to ensure the correspondence between the coil and the respective cylinder and perhaps apply some grease to prevent oxidation of the contacts.
