Replacing the Rocker Cover Gasket

The failure of the rocker cover gasket (the cover of the camshaft that operates the valves) is a common fault in older cars, leading to oil leaks that can create unpleasant smells when they contact the hot block, which may also enter the cabin; to replace this gasket, remove the cover, thoroughly clean the seating area both under the cover and on the cylinder head, then apply the new cork gasket without adding gasket sealant; finally, tighten the cover fastening bolts in a cross pattern using the torque wrench.
