Oil Sump Gasket Replacement Guide

Oil leaks can come from many points on the car. One of these could be the oil sump, and it would be a good idea to replace its gasket every two years. The procedure for replacing the oil sump gasket is the same across all vehicles, although it may be necessary to consult the vehicle manual first to know exactly how to proceed. Before starting, park the car on a level surface and allow the engine to cool, position a container under the oil sump, and use a socket wrench to loosen and remove the drain plug. Then remove the oil sump, using a tube spanner to remove the bolts securing it to the engine block, and clean any residue from the gasket.
