How to Change the Oil and Filter in a Ford Explorer

To change the engine oil in a Ford Explorer, you need to have a container for collecting the oil and place it under the sump. Now, unscrew the plug located in the sump and allow the used oil to drain out. Next, unscrew the adjacent filter and let out as much oil as possible. Now, after ensuring you have purchased the correct replacement, fit the new filter and screw the plug back into the sump. Finally, pour the oil through the upper filler cap using the dipstick. A tip is to pour in about 3 litres of oil, close the filler cap, and start the vehicle for a few seconds. This will circulate the oil, then check the level and continue adding oil without exceeding the maximum fill limit.
