Ford Escort - Video tutorial

Model: Ford Escort MK 4 - Years 1990-2000
Part: Drive shaft
Operation: Wheel side drive shaft boot replacement

The replacement of the drive shaft boot requires the removal of the constant velocity joint from the drive shaft itself; There are also patented caps on the market that can be installed without disassembling anything, they are in fact open and can be glued after being housed. To proceed in the traditional way, lift the car on the bridge, remove the front wheel, the fixing nut of the axle shaft and the head of the oscillating arm of the suspension in order to extract the axle shaft from the hub; remove the cap and with needle-nose pliers close the seeger ring that fixes the homokinetic joint to the drive shaft in order to be able to remove it; then insert the new boot, fill the joint with grease and re-fit it on the drive shaft; fix the cap with the appropriate clamps.

Let's see in this short and simple guide the instructions that will allow us to open the bonnet of the Volkswagen Polo. First of all we open the front door, on the driver's side, and start pulling the opening lever of the engine hood, in order to open the lock; then let's move to the front of the vehicle and unhook the tab that we find on the central part, above the manufacturer's emblem, as shown in the video. At this point we block the bonnet with the lateral rod; then we accompany the bonnet down to close it again!
