Ford Focus - Video tutorial

Model: Ford Focus MK 1 - Years 1998-2004
Part: Brake pads
Operation: Replacement of front brake pads

Lift the car with a jack in correspondence with the wheel on which you want to intervene. Unscrew the wheel fixing bolts with a pneumatic screwdriver and remove it. Identify the plastic caps protecting the pliers fixing pins and remove them with the help of a small screwdriver. Loosen the caliper fixing pins with a 7mm hex wrench and remove it. Before removing the old pads, use a lever to retract the plunger and create the housing for the new pads which are obviously thicker. At this point, remove the old pads and insert the new ones, taking care to make the tabs of the rear one adhere to the inside of the piston and to correctly seat the sealing spring of the front one. Then reposition the caliper and tighten its fixing pins. Reattach the protective plastic caps and hook the retaining spring of the front pad into the appropriate housings. Then reassemble the wheel by screwing the pins with the pneumatic screwdriver and check their correct tightening after lowering the car and removing the jack. Before setting off, remember to pump the brake pedal until it opposes the appropriate resistance, thus repositioning the cylinder correctly.

Handbrake adjustment on Ford Ecosport

First remove the plastic profile at the base of the gear lever. To do this, slightly widen the side edges and carefully lift it to release it. There is no need to remove it completely, just move it forward to avoid bother. Now remove the plastic center console around the handbrake by first working from the rear to release it and lifting it until the brake lever passes. Also in this case it is not necessary to remove it completely but, paying attention to the connected cables, it can be stowed in front of the passenger seat. At this point we notice that at the base of the handbrake lever, on the front, we find a nut. By acting on it, with a 10 wrench, we can adjust the brake force, increasing it by turning the nut clockwise, or decreasing it by turning it counterclockwise. Once adjusted, the center console can be repositioned first, pressing lightly to engage it, and then the profile of the gearbox base.
