Ford Focus - Video tutorial

Model: Ford Focus MK 2, Focus 2 - Years 2004-2011
Part: Brake pads
Operation: How to replace the rear brake pads on a Ford Focus 2.

In this video tutorial, we can see how to replace the rear brake pads on a Ford Focus 2: the first thing to do is to purchase quality rear brake pads from an authorized dealer. Turn off the car and engage the handbrake; lift the hood and secure it with a prop rod; unscrew the cap of the brake fluid reservoir. Lift the rear of the car using a jack and place safety stands; remove the rear wheel and place it under the car for increased safety during work. Before starting, release the handbrake, otherwise the operation will not be possible. Use a flathead screwdriver to lift the support spring of the pads and then remove it, always keep the spring secured with a finger to prevent it from jumping off. Use a thin flathead screwdriver to remove the two protective caps. Use a socket wrench with a 7mm hex key to unlock the two caliper bolts. Now remove the caliper and push the piston (use a piston retractor that allows you to push the piston and rotate it). Tie a piece of string to one of the suspension spring coils to hold the caliper in place; use the screwdriver to remove the pads from the bracket and clean the pad bracket with a wire brush. Grease the outer part of the pads with copper grease and insert them into the caliper, sliding them in (the pad with the spring goes inside). Detach the caliper and put it back in place, then tighten the caliper bolts; put the support spring back in place, put the protective caps back on, and remove the string you used to hold the caliper in place. Remount the wheels.

Handbrake adjustment on Ford Ecosport

First remove the plastic profile at the base of the gear lever. To do this, slightly widen the side edges and carefully lift it to release it. There is no need to remove it completely, just move it forward to avoid bother. Now remove the plastic center console around the handbrake by first working from the rear to release it and lifting it until the brake lever passes. Also in this case it is not necessary to remove it completely but, paying attention to the connected cables, it can be stowed in front of the passenger seat. At this point we notice that at the base of the handbrake lever, on the front, we find a nut. By acting on it, with a 10 wrench, we can adjust the brake force, increasing it by turning the nut clockwise, or decreasing it by turning it counterclockwise. Once adjusted, the center console can be repositioned first, pressing lightly to engage it, and then the profile of the gearbox base.
