What to do if the gear lever is stiff and the manual transmission is difficult to use

If the manual gearbox lever of our car or van is hard to use and shifts with difficulty (in this case it is a Ford Transit MK7, but it can apply to any vehicle), the problem is often the gearbox linkage. To perform this operation, we will need an assistant to move the gear lever while we grease the mechanism from inside the engine. In this case, we have two selectors: one goes in one direction, while the other goes in the opposite direction. By moving it, we can see how stiff it is. We will use lithium grease: any type will do, but this one is particularly heat-resistant, so it will last longer (maybe a preventive cleaning of the gears wouldn't have hurt) and we see that the lever now moves easily.
