Instructions for Replacing Spark Plugs

Choosing the right spark plugs is certainly important: consult your trusted parts dealer for advice. Carry out this maintenance with the engine cold for obvious reasons. Check the electrode gap with the appropriate feeler gauge before installing the plugs. Open the front bonnet and remove the plastic cover that conceals the engine; before proceeding with disassembly, clean the spark plug seats with compressed air to avoid any debris entering the cylinders once the plugs are removed; then unscrew the 10 mm securing bolt of the ignition coil and pull out the lead; clean again with compressed air. Next, unscrew the spark plugs and install the new ones without exceeding the torque specification, first screwing them in by hand using a tube to guide them into the seat (optionally apply the appropriate anti-seize lubricant on the thread); reposition the lead and tighten the ignition coil securing bolt. Refit the engine cover.
