Hyundai I40 - Video tutorial

Model: Hyundai I40 MK 1 - Years 2011-2019
Part: Steering wheel
Operation: Disassembly and repair of the Hyundai steering column

It happens to hear a noise at the wheel, today we are going to explain how to remove the steering wheel of our Hyundai i40 to replace the worn gear inside the power steering. First we disassemble the plastic bulkheads located under the steering wheel by unscrewing the fixing screws. Once the plastics around the steering wheel have been disassembled and the plugs of the electrical wiring removed, we are going to unscrew the steering rod from the bottom with a socket wrench. After carrying out these steps, now with a screwdriver we will help to remove the steering wheel cover where the airbag is located and levering it outwards with the indicated tool we will go to remove it. Now, once our grille has detached from the steering wheel we will have to disconnect the airbag pin to unscrew the steering wheel with a special wrench and we will only have to unscrew the two fixing screws of the light switch. At this point we disconnect all the pins of the electrical wiring, unscrew the fixing bolts of the steering column in order to remove all the steering wheel barrel, open the power steering motor by unscrewing the fixing screws and replace the worn gear. After this last operation we just have to reassemble everything as it was before and our work comes to an end.

Handbrake adjustment on Ford Ecosport

First remove the plastic profile at the base of the gear lever. To do this, slightly widen the side edges and carefully lift it to release it. There is no need to remove it completely, just move it forward to avoid bother. Now remove the plastic center console around the handbrake by first working from the rear to release it and lifting it until the brake lever passes. Also in this case it is not necessary to remove it completely but, paying attention to the connected cables, it can be stowed in front of the passenger seat. At this point we notice that at the base of the handbrake lever, on the front, we find a nut. By acting on it, with a 10 wrench, we can adjust the brake force, increasing it by turning the nut clockwise, or decreasing it by turning it counterclockwise. Once adjusted, the center console can be repositioned first, pressing lightly to engage it, and then the profile of the gearbox base.
