Hyundai Elantra - Video tutorial

Model: Hyundai Elantra XD, MK 3 - Years 2000-2006
Part: Shock absorbers
Operation: How to replace the rear shock absorber

To replace the rear shock absorber you must first loosen the wheel nuts. Then lift the car and remove the wheel. As you can see from the pictures, the shock absorber is dirty with oil and probably needs to be replaced. Remove part of the rear seat to gain access to the shock absorber upper fixing screws. As the car is lifted off the ground, the spring is at maximum relaxation so to remove some tension and facilitate the work, lift the hub. Unscrew the upper screws, switch to the lower ones as shown in the pictures. Finally, remove the brake hose from its holder, being careful not to bend it too much. Then remove the spring-shock absorber assembly. Now fix the tools to compress the spring with due precautions and safety pins. It is advisable to orient the tools with the screw to be turned on the side where the spring is larger to work with more ease. Now that the spring is compressed, you can safely unscrew the upper screw and then remove in succession the spring support plate, the limit switch, the stem protection tube and the rubber ring of the lower plate. Always compare that the spare part is the same, right or left, like the one just removed. Eliminate the bracket on the stem of the new spare which is only for transport purposes. Compress the spring further. Once the components to be reused have been put back on the shock absorber, seat the spring as indicated. Attach the top plate. Holding it firmly, loosen the spring by removing the tools. Reinstall the spring-shock absorber assembly on the car by retightening the two screws of the lower support. Raise the hub to facilitate fastening of the screws inside the passenger compartment. Don't forget to screw the bar and brake hose back on. Check that everything has been reassembled correctly. Car model: Hyundai Elantra Year: 2004 Tools required: jack, jack stands, 12-14 mm socket wrench, spring pliers

Handbrake adjustment on Ford Ecosport

First remove the plastic profile at the base of the gear lever. To do this, slightly widen the side edges and carefully lift it to release it. There is no need to remove it completely, just move it forward to avoid bother. Now remove the plastic center console around the handbrake by first working from the rear to release it and lifting it until the brake lever passes. Also in this case it is not necessary to remove it completely but, paying attention to the connected cables, it can be stowed in front of the passenger seat. At this point we notice that at the base of the handbrake lever, on the front, we find a nut. By acting on it, with a 10 wrench, we can adjust the brake force, increasing it by turning the nut clockwise, or decreasing it by turning it counterclockwise. Once adjusted, the center console can be repositioned first, pressing lightly to engage it, and then the profile of the gearbox base.
