Replacing Front Shock Absorbers

Replacing the front shock absorbers is not typical DIY maintenance, but if you have the appropriate clamps to compress the spring, you can proceed. The task becomes easier if you have a lift to raise the vehicle. Start by removing the front wheel, then move on to the bolts that secure the shock absorber to the hub support. Access the engine bay and unscrew the nuts that secure the shock absorber support to the body strut. Once the shock absorber is removed from its seat, apply the clamps to the spring and compress it enough to free the support for removal from the shaft. Then, insert the spring, dust cover, and support into the new shock absorber and reverse the process for installation in the vehicle.
