Dismantling Dashboard on Jaguar XJ

Model: Jaguar Xj MK 4, XJ 40 - Years 1986-1994
Part: Instrument cluster

Remove the plastic cover behind the steering wheel by unscrewing the four screws that secure it. Next, unscrew all the screws that secure the instrument cluster around the perimeter. You can then extract the housing that holds the bulbs of your instrument cluster either by hand or with a tool (a small flat screwdriver or a plastic lever). Replace any burnt-out bulbs and proceed in reverse for reassembly. If you intend to dismantle the entire speedometer, remember to disconnect the cables during extraction. Refit all the plastics and screw them in tightly.
