Let's see how to put a Mazda Skyactive gearbox in learning mode: this procedure deletes all the adaptation values learned by the automatic gearbox, resetting it to factory conditions; it solves shifting problems, but not mechanical ones. We must keep the brake pedal pressed for the entire procedure, and the gearbox fluid must have a temperature that is reached after driving for about twenty minutes. The entire procedure is done with the engine running and the car stationary. Start the engine and put the car in "P" for a minute, then move it to "N"; turn off the car (which will not agree): Move the lever to the "manual" position and hold it there for 5 seconds. Without releasing the brake, try to restart the engine (which will not happen). Move the lever back from "manual" to "N": start the engine. With the engine running in "N", move the lever back to "manual" and hold it for 5 seconds. Release the lever: the display should show "M" and the gearbox is in learning mode. The engine speed will rise and fall on its own, while the gearbox cycles through all the clutches to calibrate them. Do not touch anything, the process will complete automatically. When the engine speed returns to normal idle and the gear "M1" appears on the display, the procedure is complete; move the lever to "P" and turn off the engine. The car will drive a bit strangely for the first 30/50 km, because it is learning: drive as smoothly as possible.
