Replacing the key battery on a Mazda 2 and many other models from the same manufacturer is a straightforward task that only requires a small flat screwdriver. First, press the side button to release the physical key from its housing, where you will notice a small plastic catch that needs to be pressed with the tip of a screwdriver, allowing the remote to split into two parts. At this point, the remote will be divided into one side containing the physical key mechanism and the other side containing the remote where the battery is housed. To access the battery, open the remote cover, which will be clipped in place; simply insert the screwdriver tip between the two joined parts to open them and access the battery. Once the cover is open, you can proceed to replace the battery with a new one and reassemble everything in the reverse order of disassembly.
