Alternator Replacement Instructions

Model: Mazda 3 BK, MK 1 - Years 2003-2009

When the alternator fails, it can no longer charge the battery, and the battery warning light remains illuminated on the dashboard. You can also check the charging status by measuring the voltage across the battery terminals with the engine running: the voltage should measure between 13.8 V and 14.2 V if the alternator is functioning properly. To replace it, open the front bonnet, disconnect one terminal of the battery, remove the splash guard, and loosen the tensioner of the auxiliary belt to free the alternator pulley. Proceed to remove the mounting bolts of the alternator and the cables connected to it. Then install the new alternator (you can also opt for a refurbished one). After installation, check the charging voltage.
