How to Remove the Steering Wheel Airbag

Model: Mazda 6 GG, MK 1 - Years 2002-2008

To remove the steering wheel airbag, you will need 8mm and 10mm sockets, retaining clips and extensions, a flathead screwdriver, and a torque wrench. First, unscrew the bolts located inside the bonnet and under the steering column, and pull out the dashboard: the airbags will be inside the steering wheel. Here, you will see two wires connected, which will be of different colours. Wait a few minutes, then disconnect them. Replace the airbag and finally reconnect the wires by tightening all the bolts until you hear a double "click".
