Replacement of Exploded Steering Wheel Airbag

Model: Mazda 6 GG, MK 1 - Years 2002-2008

If the airbag has exploded, it is necessary to replace it. First, deactivate the airbag by disconnecting the negative terminal of the battery. Remove the plastic covers around the steering column, then begin unscrewing the retaining screws of the airbag module, accessible through the holes on the sides of the steering column using a ratchet spanner. Loosen the screws and carefully pull the airbag cover away, disengaging the plastic clips. Once the airbag is removed, carefully disconnect the two connectors located at the back by releasing the small plastic tabs with a tool. Be careful not to drop the new airbag module, do not place it near intense heat sources, do not carry it away, do not shake or hit it, as it may explode.
