Let's see how to unlock the automatic transmission of a Mercedes Classe C W203: we will remove the safety lock of the gear lever. This system prevents moving the lever from the "P" position without pressing the brake and without having the key inserted. When the battery is dead or there are electronic faults, this system does not work. Let's look at the center console: we are looking for a small rectangular plastic cover, which is usually located at the front right of the gear lever compartment. Using the edge of a coin, we lift the cover. Inside the hole, we will find a button or a metal pin. We use the tip of a pen or a rigid, thin tool to press that button and maintain pressure. While doing this, we move the gear lever from "P" to "N"; there is no need to press the brake. Now the transmission is unlocked, and the vehicle can be pushed or towed.
