How to change the engine oil and filter on a Mercedes Vito W638

To change the oil on a Mercedes Vito W638, it is advisable to slightly warm the engine, then open the bonnet and unscrew the oil cap to facilitate draining. Next, lift the vehicle, clean the area around the drain plug, place a large container underneath, and unscrew the plug to allow complete drainage. Meanwhile, replace the filter; clean the housing, unscrew the filter and remove it, cover the housing with a cloth, remove the old O-ring, clean the filter seats, fit the new O-ring lubricating it with new oil, and screw in the new filter first by hand and then to 25 Nm. Now clean the plug seat, replace the plug and washer, and pour in new oil to about 90% of the tank capacity. Screw the oil cap back on and start the engine for 3 to 5 minutes until the light goes out. Wait 5 minutes, then check the level and add oil as necessary to reach "max". Dispose of used oil and the old filter properly at an authorised centre.
