Replacing damaged glow plugs on a Mercedes E-Class? Here's how to do it. Open the hood and secure it. Disconnect the battery terminals. Remove the soundproofing panel if present. Use a screwdriver to remove the screws securing the coils on the engine head; disconnect the coils. Next, use a socket wrench to unscrew the glow plugs and pull them out of the head. Take the new glow plugs and guide them into the engine head with the socket extension, tighten them, and connect the power coils to each glow plug. Install the coils and test the engine.
