Mercedes Classe E - Video tutorial

Model: Mercedes Classe E W210 - Years 1995-2002
Part: Electric fan
Operation: Engine fan clutch replacement

If the engine cooling system is not working properly, the problem may be that the engine cooling fan is not working properly. In this Mercedes E-Class the fan turns however its motion is too free: it is necessary to replace its clutch which modulates the transmission of the rotary motion. A new clutch is taken. To reach the faulty one, you need to create a space: remove the two clips on the inner edge of the bonnet and the four adjacent bolts. Now that you have prepared the space, reach the center of the clutch with an 8 mm Allen wrench with its extension and loosen the central cube. You will also need to remove the timing belt and the water pump to increase room to maneuver. Once sufficient space is created, the fan is extracted and the clutch is removed from it. To do this, unscrew the three fasteners with a 5 mm Allen key. Mount the new one and reassemble everything as before. At the end of the operation, check the resistance of the new clutch.
