How to Replace Your Car Battery

The following guide shows how to remove the battery from your vehicle. Without the battery, the engine and electrical parts would not function. The battery is located by manufacturers directly under the hood for safety reasons. It is connected to the car via two cables: one is red, carrying a positive electrical charge, while the other is black, carrying a negative electrical charge. At its bottom, the battery is secured to the car's engine with a bracket. You will need a wrench, usually size 8 or 10, and you can proceed by disconnecting the black cable first, which is negative (-), and then the red cable, which is positive (+). Using the same wrench, you can then continue by removing the battery from the engine by unscrewing the nut that holds it to the bracket.
