Model: Mercedes 190
W201
- Years 1982-1993 Replacing the timing belt of a Mercedes 190, model W201, is a fairly easy operation that can be done independently, thanks to the help of our short video tutorial that will show you the most important steps for replacing and installing a timing belt. Let's begin the replacement by opening the front hood and covering the exterior part of the body with a soft cloth. Once this is done, use a size 17 wrench to loosen the tensioner bolt and a size 13 combination wrench to loosen the tensioner. At this point, you can remove the belt and insert the new one, as shown in the video. Now, let's begin the installation process. Use the size 13 wrench to tighten the tensioner and the size 17 wrench to tighten the fixing bolt. Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes, then close the hood.
