To reset the automatic transmission of the Mercedes E-Class, insert the ignition key into the ignition switch. Once the dashboard lights up, press the accelerator pedal for about thirty seconds. After this time, release the accelerator pedal and turn off the ignition, waiting a few more seconds. After a moment, you can move the gear shift in all directions to unlock it. Once the transmission is unlocked, you can remove the ignition key from the switch.
