How to Install a Spacer on the Steering Wheel of a Mini Cooper S

This video demonstrates how to install a spacer on the steering wheel of a Mini. First, disconnect the negative terminal of the battery. Using a flat screwdriver with a ground tip, release the airbag through the two holes at the extreme sides of the steering wheel.

Remove the two electrical connectors of the airbag, then proceed with the steering wheel connectors: there is a large one on the left and one on the right, then loosen the central screw and check that the steering wheel moves freely and is not stuck.

You can find the spacer on spacershop for £245.00, which is perfectly compatible; it also includes wiring for extending the cables. (A cheaper but more complex installation option is available on Amazon for £25.65, code B0957CN355 with free delivery for Prime customers).

The installation is straightforward; reconnect the wires, taking care as the spaces are very small. Close the central key and then reconnect the airbag.

Connect the connectors and then replace the airbag; it's an easy job but requires a lot of patience.
