Instructions for Replacing the Fuel Pump

Model: Mitsubishi Lancer MK 8 - Years 2000-2006

The fuel pump is installed directly in the tank and is fully immersed in fuel: usually, when the ignition is turned on, a whirring sound is heard from the rear of the cabin, confirming the activation of the pump; when this whirring is no longer heard, it means the pump is damaged and the engine will not start. To replace it, remove the rear seat, unscrew the screws securing the cover protecting the pump, disconnect the power connector and the supply and return hoses. Then, unscrew the nuts of the fixing flange and extract the pump complete with float. Once on the bench, it is possible to replace just the motor of the pump located at the bottom, transferring any missing elements from one side to the other. Proceed in reverse for installation.
