How Intelligent Cruise Control (ICC) Works on Nissan Vehicles

In this video, we see that ICC (Intelligent Cruise Control) is an advanced driving assistance system that goes beyond traditional cruise control, which merely maintains the speed set by the driver without considering the traffic ahead. If a slower vehicle enters the lane, the driver must deactivate it manually. The ICC, however, maintains the set speed and can detect the vehicle in front, automatically adjusting the speed to maintain a pre-set safe distance, following the flow of traffic. The system relies on two main components: a long-range radar and a front camera; the driver, after setting the desired speed, selects one of the available safe distances using a button on the steering wheel. The system detects the slower vehicle in the same lane and reduces its speed while maintaining the chosen distance; it can brake to a complete stop if traffic halts and can automatically restart if the stop is less than 3 seconds. For longer stops, simply tap the accelerator pedal to reactivate the system and proceed. The system also warns of collision risks audibly and visually, then brakes automatically to mitigate or completely avoid the impact.
